Why ‘make hay while the sun shines’ is best for farm fire safety

We are seeing an increase in agricultural fires, and more specifically barn fires, at the moment, and we are concerned this will continue, so we thought we’d explain why.

New life saving water safety equipment installed at Exeter Quay

Six new potentially lifesaving throw line boards and reach poles have been installed at locations around Exeter Quay with the aim to reduce drownings around the area.

What looks to be eight firefighters in the streets, which are ablaze. They are in full uniform (jumpsuits and helmets). One is holding a hose, one is reaching to catch something, two are stood looking around and others are crouched down handling bricks.

We remember firefighting during the Blitz, 80 years on

On the 80 year anniversary of the Plymouth Blitz, we’re taking the time to reflect on the role of the fire service during World War Two.

The new Plymstock Fire Station is taking shape

Building work has begun on the new two-bay Fire Station in Plymstock.
