Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Sexual Safety Charter
We are committed to fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and safety for everyone who works with us. This Charter sets out our duty to prevent and address sexual harassment, promote accountability, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.
Sexual harassment, coercion, intimidation, and any unwanted sexual behaviour have no place in our Service. Everyone has the right to feel safe and protected at work.
Our Service commitment
We will:
- create and maintain a respectful, safe working environment free from sexual harassment, coercion, or intimidation
- provide training to all staff on preventing sexual harassment
- encourage open conversations about sexual safety, power dynamics, and consent
- take all concerns seriously, ensuring individuals feel listened to and supported
- implement clear, confidential reporting processes that are accessible to all
- conduct robust risk assessments and introduce appropriate safety measures
- ensure accountability and cultural integration of this Charter across the Service.
We believe that a safe and supportive environment is fundamental to the well-being and success of our entire community.
