Crews from our Exeter stations at Danes Castle and Middlemoor were mobilised to a car on fire on the M5 Northbound, between J31 Pearces Hill and J30 Sandygate, following multiple calls from the driver of the vehicle and passing motorists. The fire, located in the engine compartment, was soon under control and extinguished using 1 hose reel jet and small tools, before crews made the vehicle and scene safe. There were no casualties and duty of care was left with the driver, awaiting recovery, and the Highways Agency providing scene safety, due to the location.
