Residential Property Fire
Fire control received multiple calls to a property on fire in the Horrabridge area earlier this evening.
Three fire appliances from Yelverton and Tavistock were quickly mobilised, when crews arrived on scene they confirmed that there were large amounts of black smoke issuing from the property and made up for a further fire appliance for additional breathing apparatus. The reinforcements were mobilised from Crownhill, Greenbank and Tavistock fire stations along with a water appliance from Plympton and a water carrier from Cornwall Liskeard was also sent from over the border to provide support.
The fire involved a two storey residential property measuring approx 15m by 30m, fire crews used 2 x hose reel jets, 1 x main jet, 6 x breathing apparatus, 1 x safety jet, triple extension ladder, 2 x water bowsers, 1 x light portable pump and small tools to extinguish the fire. There was 25% damage to the ground floor caused by heat and water, 60% damage to first floor and roof space which was caused by fire, heat and water. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical blanket.
