Fire Control received a report of a fire in a flat in the Keswick Crescent area of Plymouth and immediately mobilised crews from Crownhill, Camels Head and Greenbank.
Fire Control provided telephone guidance to the caller whilst crews were en-route due to them reporting the batteries on an electric bike was on fire, making them unable to exit the property safely. Fortunately, the occupants of this address were able to exit the property via the rear.
The fire was located on the first floor flat which involved lithium iron batteries for electric bikes, situated at the bottom of the stairs. 6x breathing apparatus, 2x hose reel jets, 1x safety jet, positive pressure ventilation fans, triple extension ladder, thermal image camera, gas monitor and small tools was used to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately the flat sustained 100% smoke damage and 90% fire damage.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
