Property fire
Fire Control received multiple calls reporting a fire and mobilised one fire engine from South Molton, two from Barnstaple and one from Witheridge.
On arrival of the first fire engine the Officer in Charge confirmed that one property was well alight and crews got to work with one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus, one covering jet and small tools.
At 14:12 crews requested a water bowser to attend which was mobilised from Barnstaple.
The final details were confirmed at 20:16 as a detached, unoccupied house of two storeys of brick and cobb construction measuring 30 metres x 8 metres with barn storage at the rear. Fire involving the barn 100% destroyed by fire, house 5% damaged by fire isolated to roof and attic space, remainder of property 5% smoke damaged throughout. The equipment used comprised six breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, one main jet, one safety jet, ladders, thermal imaging cameras, gas monitors and small tools. Hydrants were used to supplement water supplies.
Throughout the evening and following day crews carried out revisits to check for hotspots.
