Incident - RTC - Person Trapped

Date: 02/03/2021
Time: 17:34
Location: Widgery Drive, South Molton
Area: Central
County: Devon

2 fire appliances from South Molton and Barnstaple, together with our Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor (Exeter), were mobilised following a request from the Police for our assistance to a one vehicle RTC, where a car had gone through a wall and down a 6ft embankment, trapping someone inside.

Shortly after our South Molton crew arrived on scene and liaised with both Police and Ambulance personnel, they confirmed that whilst the casualty was still inside the car, they were medically not physically trapped. Crews set to work stabilising the vehicle using a winch and small tools, before assisting paramedics with releasing the casualty. The services of our Heavy Rescue Vehicle was not required and returned en route. Once the scene and vehicle was made safe, duty of care was left with the Police and recovery service. The casualty was left in the hands of the ambulance service.
