Fire Control received several calls reporting a fire involving a shed, garden and fencing and mobilised two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Frome.

On arrival crews confirmed that one summer house was well alight and got to work with two hose reel jets to prevent further escalation.

At 00:39 crews were making good progress Police were also in attendance to assist with road closure. The equipment in use was two hose reel jets, one main jet and lighting.

Fire Control mobilised one fire engine from Torquay and one from Paignton to a report of a road traffic collision with one female trapped between a car and a wall.

On arrival crews confirmed that one female was pinned between a wall and a vehicle and crews got to work stabilising and preparing to use hydraulic equipment.

20:59 final details were one elderly female released from between vehicle and wall and left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Fire Control received multiple calls to a house fire and mobilised three fire engines from Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and Crownwhill.

On arrival crews confirmed that smoke was issuing from the upstairs rear window of the property.

At 16:35 semi detached property of two floors with fire in upstairs bedroom, crews using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and one thermal imaging camera.

Multiple calls were received reporting a property fire in South Place, The Promenade, Kingsbridge.  Initially a fire engine from Salcombe, a fire engine from Ivybridge, a fire engine from Totnes, an aerial from Greenbank and a supporting officer were sent to this incident.  When the fire engine from Salcombe got in attendance they stated that no further resources were required.

Fire Control received calls reporting a vehicle fire and mobilised one appliance.

The final details were confirmed at 17:53 as one fuel tanker with both brakes and cab on fire. Fire extinguished initially by the driver using a fire extinguisher and Fire Service used two hose reel jets and checked the surrounding area and cab with a thermal imaging camera.

Crews received a call from the Ambulance requesting attendance at a road traffic collision with one person still believed to be in the vehicle.

The final details were confirmed at 17:33 as one two vehicle road traffic collision involving two vehicles and a trailer. One female was released from the vehicle using road traffic collision equipment and treated by Ambulance personnel.

Joint emergency services statement regarding A396 collision

Emergency services are responding to a collision on the A396 Cutcombe Hill, between Wheddon Cross and Timbercombe.

Calls came in at about 3pm reporting a bus had left the road near the junction with Ashwell Lane and Steart Lane.

Most of the passengers have been taken off the bus.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are working to free the remaining occupants and the ambulance service are also on the scene.

Two fire engines were mobilised by Control following reports that a car was on its roof with a male occupant trapped.

Upon arrival the Incident Commander confirmed that one male was physically trapped within the vehicle. Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools to release the male, leaving him and another female occupant of the vehicle with Ambulance for ongoing care.

One fire engine was sent to a report of a tree on fire in Plympton, Plymouth. On arrival crews confirmed this was actually a motorcycle on fire which had spread to a tree. Crews extinguished the fire using:

• 1 Hose reel jet
• 1 Breathing apparatus
• 1 Thermal image camera.

The motorcycle was totally destroyed by fire and the cause was believed deliberate. Incident was handed over to Police.

Two fire engines were sent to a report of a shed on fire in a garden in Hawthorn Grove, Exmouth. On arrival crews confirmed this was a bird avery that was on fire and had spread to the fence and property. The fire was extinguished using:

• 4 Breathing apparatus
• 1 Hose reel jet
• 1 Safety jet
• Thermal image camera

The avery was totally destroyed by fire and there was 10 per cent fire damage to an extension of the property and approximately 12 metres of fencing destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
