Fire control received a call from Police regarding a road traffic collision on the A39 Bristol Hill Cross roads.
1 fire engine from Shepton Mallet, 1 fire engine and the heavy rescue unit from Glastonbury attended the incident alongside an officer from Poole.
On arrival crews confirmed this to be a 2 vehicle RTC involving a van and a car in which the driver was physically trapped.
Crews got to work with hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the doors and roof to gain access to the casualty.
The driver was left in the hands of the paramedics on scene.
