Property fire
A call was received reporting smoke coming from an extraction system in a commercial premises and Fire Control mobilised three fire engines; two from Danes Castle, Exeter and one from Middlemoor, Exeter.
On arrival crews confirmed that smoke was issuing from an extractor fan in the rear of building and got to work with two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
Crews cut away sections of insulation to investigate the source of the fire and damped down sections of piping.
The final details were confirmed at 08:27 as one single storey building used as commercial workshop, fire in sawdust extractor in rear of building. Crews removed a two metre section of piping and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet, one triple extension ladder and positive pressure ventilation.
