Property fire
Fire control received a call to a fire within an extraction system at a business in Holsworthy.
Control mobilised 3 fire appliances from Holsworthy, Hatherleigh and Torrington, an Aerial appliance from Barnstaple and a supporting officer.
Once in attendance, crews confirmed there was smoke and flames issuing and a short while later, control received an assistance message requesting 2 more appliances. These appliances were mobilised from North Tawton and Bideford along with an incident command unit from Ilfracombe and 2 further supporting officers.
Initial information passed by the crews confirmed a fire within an extraction system and crews were using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and thermal imaging camera.
Update at 13:35 - Fire involving extraction system within commercial building measuring 40m x 20m. The incident has been sectorised for better control of the incident. Crews now have 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 2 safety jets, compressed air foam jet and 2 thermal imaging cameras in use.
Update at 14:10 - Crews have now been able to reduce the equipment in use back down to 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet, 1 safety jet and thermal imaging camera. Crews are utilising staff and machinery onsite to assist with bringing to the incident to a close.
Final update at 16:10 - Fire involving an extraction system within a single storey commercial building measuring 40m x 20m. The fire caused 20% fire damage and 30% smoke damage to the building. A total of 8 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets, 2 safety jets, 2 thermal imaging cameras 1 compressed air foam jet and 1 triple extension ladder was used. This fire was confirmed to be accidental.
