Outdoor fire

Fire control received over 20 calls to a field on fire in the area of Kennford. 

Fire control initially mobilised 2 fire appliances from Danes Castle and Clyst St George and a water carrier from Torquay.

Whilst crews were on route, due to the size of the fire, they sent an assistance message to control requesting 2 further appliances, these were mobilised from Bovey Tracey and Ottery St Mary along with supporting officers.

Once on scene, crews confirmed approximately 8-10 acres of standing crops involved in fire and sent another assistance message to control requesting 2 further resources, these were mobilised from Newton Abbot and Ashburton. Due to the nature of this incident, an incident command unit from Totnes, a welfare unit from Ivybridge and other supporting officers were also mobilised.

This incident is currently sectorised and crews are making good progress.
