Animal rescue
Fire crews were called to a report of a horse in a water filled ditch in Moor Road, Sutton Mallet, Bridgwater. A fire engine and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater and a telehandler from another station attended this incident. On arrival crews confirmed one horse measuring 15 hands in a water filled ditch and got to work liaising with the owner and formulating a plan on how to rescue the horse.
The horse was sedated by a vet and fire crews then rescued it from the ditch using the telehandler, harness strops and dry suits.
