Education and young people

The best way to keep our community safe is to reduce risk and prevent fire, road and water emergencies and incidents from happening.

In Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service we do this through education and that begins with our children and young people.

Early years

Resources, games, books and ideas to teach children aged two to five about fire and road safety through the topic 'people who help us'.

Early years, reception and year one resources

Primary schools

From videos to handy worksheets, we’ve created resources to help you teach the Great Fire of London, and support delivery of Key Stage 1 and 2 classes about fire and road safety sessions.

Resources and information for primary schools

Secondary schools

We teach pupils the importance of fire and road safety and the impact of careless behaviour, so they can keep themselves (and others) safe.

Youth groups

Away from a classroom setting, uniformed groups are a great way for children and teenagers to grow their confidence and learn skills that will help them flourish later in life.

Fire Cadets

A fun, free and nationally recognised programme for 13-18 year-olds that allows them to gain a qualification, learn new skills, make friends and boost their confidence!
