Incident - Domestic Property Fire

Date: 03/03/2021
Time: 00:40
Location: Brickyard Lane, Crewkerne
Area: Somerset
County: Somerset

The resident of a detached bungalow had a lucky escape this morning after a fire, which started in their garden shed, quickly spread to a fence panel and then their conservatory.

Fire Control received calls from neighbours reporting a large fire in the rear garden. A crew from Crewkerne were initially mobilised but within minutes of their arrival the attendance was increased to a further fire engine, which came from Yeovil.

As firefighters tackled the fire externally, more crew were sent inside the property to investigate and soon located the resident fit and well, before leading them outside to safety. Crews worked well to bring the fire, which started accidentally, under control, using 1 hose reel jet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera. The shed was destroyed, along with the fence panel, with the conservatory sustaining heat damage only. Once the scene was made safe and the occupant checked over, they were left in the care of family.
