Incident - Domestic property fire

Two fire appliances from Torquay attended reports of an electrical appliance on fire in a domestic property. Upon arrival crews confirmed the first floor to be well alight and quickly requested two further fire appliances. One attended from Newton Abbot and one from Teignmouth along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Torquay. Crews used 6 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, 1 main jet, 1 safety jet to extinguish the fire along with 3 thermal imaging cameras, 2 gas detectors, 2 triple extension ladders and small tools.

A further fire appliance was requested for personnel which attended from Brixham. Due to the number of fire crews on scene, the Incident command unit from Totnes and Incident Support Unit from Bovey Tracey were also mobilised to this incident.

All persons were accounted for and an ambulance was requested for one casualty suffering from smoke inhalation.

The cause of this incident was believed to be accidental.
