Location: Burnside Road, Ilfracombe
Area: Central
County: Devon

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports from a passer-by reporting a smoke alarm sounding and smoke coming from a property at the above location when it was unknown if there was still anybody inside.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Ilfracombe, one from Woolacombe, one from Braunton and an Operational Assurance Officer.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed that all persons were accounted for and that crews were preparing to enter the property using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and one covering jet. The fire involved the front door of the property and the contents within the hallway.

At 07:46hrs the crews confirmed that the fire was out. The total number of breathing apparatus wearers was increased to four to allow crews to check neighbouring properties for fire spread and damage. A positive pressure ventilation fan was also in use for smoke clearance.

Police were requested to attend due to the nature of the fire.
