Incident - Smoke in residential building

Date: 12/09/2017
Time: 07:11
Location: Hitchen Lane, Shepton Mallet
Area: Somerset
County: Somerset

One appliance from Shepton Mallet, one from Wells, and one from Glastonbury, were mobilised to the above location following a call reporting a smell of burning and smoke within the premises. An Operational Assurance Officer was also mobilised.

Upon arrival of the first appliance, crews found that the first floor laundry room was heavily smoke logged, and crews set to work using a thermal imaging camera and one hose reel jet to investigate. The assistance of the oncoming appliances were confirmed as not required, and these were returned to their home stations.

Crews found that there appeared to be a fault with the tumble dryer, which caused the smell of burning and smoke. No fire was found. Small tools were also used to ensure that the area was safe prior to the crews leaving the incident.
