How it works

Our friendly experts will share helpful fire safety tips to keep you safer in your home and community. We’d also like to hear about anything else fire service related that’s on your mind, and ask your opinion about ideas we’ve got too.

  • Listen to seasonal fire safety advice from a fire service officer.
  • Ask your questions about fire concerns.
  • Tell us what you think about our ideas.
  • Bring drinks and biscuits!

The events will take place on Microsoft Teams and each will last an hour. We’ll start with a 10-minute presentation on seasonal fire safety advice, followed by a general discussion and question and answer session.

Take part

These events are free to attend, for anyone who lives or works in Devon and Somerset, and are run online through a video conferencing platform, called Microsoft Teams. It's simple and easy to set-up an account if you don't already have one.

You will be able to register to attend via Eventbrite and the link will be shared here on this web page, and on our social channels (Facebook, Instagram and X), three weeks ahead of the event.

It doesn’t matter what your background or experience is, whether you represent an organisation or are speaking as an individual, you’re very welcome.

If there is something you’d really like to find out about, you can share your questions in advance by emailing PressOfficer@dsfire.gov.uk

If you're having a problem joining, please call us on 01392 719999.

Recording

We will record the session so that we can use it for note taking and to follow up anything we need to offer. This is so we don't have to make notes and miss the conversation.

We will share a screenshot internally and externally (including social media) and you have the option to be included or not.

Please read our privacy notice for details on how we use and share your information.

Code of conduct

We understand there may be some strong views in the virtual room, so we may suggest a separate conversation if we feel a topic needs more time.

If anyone is disruptive or displays unreasonable behaviour, we will give a warning before keeping them on mute, and if the behaviour continues on the chat we will give a final warning before they are removed from the event.
