Online safety resources for children
We do more than put out fires. We also rescue people and help other emergency services.
In addition to our fire and road safety resources, you might be looking for other material to help teach important safety lessons for many different situations.
To make it easier, we’ve pulled together a one-stop-shop of useful, free online resources. So whether you're a teacher, parent, grandparent, guardian or work in a community youth group, we've got you covered.
Staywise
Staywise brings together educational resources from the emergency services and voluntary safety organisations. Here you can find trusted resources from the Police, the Fire Service, the Ambulance Service, and the RNLI. There are links to the national curriculum with teaching notes and a variety of support tasks.
Water safety
Educating children about how to stay safe in and around the water is so important. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Canal River Trust have lots of resources to teach water safety to little ones in the classroom or at home.
Road safety
The website THINK is a government initiative run by the Department for Transport, and has safety information and resources from the ages of three right up until the ages of 16.
Fire and road safety
Meet the Byrnes family and see how they help each other stay safe at home, outside, and on the road.
Lots of games, tasks and cartoons for children aged 3 – 11 years.
Electrical safety
Switched on Kids explains what electricity is and how to stay safe in your home. There are lots of resources for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 which cover everyday appliances, safety, switches, circuits and more.
Carbon monoxide (CO)
To support the information on our website about carbon monoxide, we recommend Safety Seymour, which uses the character of a superhero bear to communicate the dangers of CO.
Online safety
Thinkuknow is the education programme from NCA-CEOP, a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline. Explore one of the six Thinkuknow websites for advice about staying safe when you're on a phone, tablet, or computer.
