Protect yourself on the roads - Project EDWARD

A concrete space being used for road safety training. There are lorries around the edge, four fire engines, firefighters dotted around and a model of a road traffic collision in the middle between three cars, a van and a lorry. A police car is also nearby.

We are a member of the Vision Zero South West partnership and we are working with UK charity Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death) this week to raise awareness about road safety and save lives on our roads.

An exciting national road safety road trip has started. Follow us with our partners from the police, other fire services, the ambulance service and councils to find out about how to be a safer driver.

A spectacular array of service vehicles and key individuals, including Alison Hernandez (Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall and national road safety lead) will meet on Monday 13th September at the Marsh Mills branch of Sainsbury’s in Plymouth to showcase the work of Vision Zero.

We'll be hosting road safety events this week, such as the Parent's Learn2Live online event on Monday 13th September at 7-8pm.

    Timings

9am-11am: at Marsh Mills Sainsbury’s car park in Plymouth.

11am: Travel in convoy up A38 to Exeter Airport.

12 noon: Exeter Airport with Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Post-crash care discussions with Devon Air Ambulance Trust staff, Professor Tim Nutbeam and Doctor Chris Burgess. Joining us will be CFO Lee Howell, DCFO Joe Hassell, Chair of the Fire Authority Cllr Randall Johnson and Vice Chair Cllr Thomas.

1.30pm: Leave Exeter Airport in convoy to travel up the M5 to Taunton Deane Motorway Services.

2.15pm: Arrive at Taunton Deane Services.

3pm: Leave Taunton Deane heading for Clevedon.
