Incident - Road Traffic Collision - Persons Trapped

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a request from Police to attend a single vehicle road traffic collision where the occupant of the vehicle was trapped inside.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Chulmleigh, one from North Tawton, the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor and an Operational Assurance Officer.

On arrival crews confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision where the vehicle had left the carriageway and come to rest down an embankment with a male trapped inside.

Crews got to work releasing the male from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment, safety at height equipment and small tools.

Duty of care for the casualty was handed over to the on scene Paramedics.

The vehicle was made safe before crews returned to their home stations.
