Fire Control received several calls reporting a car towing a caravan on fire on the A35 near Wilmington. 3 fire engines from Honiton, Colyton and Seaton were mobilised.
Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed 1 car and 1 caravan well alight and the fire had spread to an hedgerow.
Fire crews extinguished the vehicles using 4 breathing apparatus wearers, 2 compressed air foam system jets, 2 hose reel jets and a thermal image camera. Both the car and caravan were severely damaged by fire and approximately 50 metres of hedgerow and grass verge was also damaged by fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
