Business Safety Week

Good fire safety management saves lives and protects property

Did you know that around 80% of businesses fail following a significant fire?

Good fire prevention will allow your business to flourish, create a safe environment for staff
and visitors, as well as promote community prosperity and well-being.

Business owners and managers are responsible for ensuring their business complies with Fire Safety legislation.
Read more about this on our Safety at Work pages.

Keep it SIMPLE and safe

The businesses that do survive a disaster plan their response before it strikes.

We encourage all businesses to share the 'SIMPLE' message with your employees:

  • Store stock safely: keep corridors, stairs and exits clear
  • Identify alarm points so you can warn others
  • Make sure doors are closed to stop fires from spreading
  • Place things that catch fire away from things that cause fire
  • Let someone know if you spot fire safety problems
  • Ensure everyone knows what to do if a fire alarm sounds

Business Safety Week is an ideal time to make sure everyone knows the ‘SIMPLE’ fire safety measures that protect themselves, their colleagues and customers, and ultimately your business.

You can print off and display our posters in your business premises to reinforce this message.
