The Fire Service were called to a report of a horse in a ditch at the above location.  One fire engine from Ottery St Mary, one fire engine from Honiton, a Fire Service telehandler and Specialist Officers attended this incident. 

On arrival crews confirmed one 700kg horse stuck in a ditch, crews at work setting up rescue equipment.

10:05 Horse now sedated, crews at work with rescue equipment and liaising with vet to formulate the safest rescue.  Telehandler on standby.

11:47 One 29 year old horse weighing 700kg rescued from ditch.  Crews used animal rescue equipment, lines, small tools, short extension ladder, telehandler and an animal harness.  Horse left in the care of the owner and the vet.
