The Fire Service were called to reports of a property on fire at the above location. Fire Control mobilised both fire appliances from Sidmouth and one fire appliance from Honiton to this incident.

Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed smoke and flames were issuing from the property and requested the attendance of three further appliances and a water bowser. Fire Control therefore mobilised the second fire appliance from Honiton, one fire appliance from Ottery St Mary, one fire appliance from Colyton, the water bowser from Danes Castle and the Incident command support unit from Wiveliscombe.

Due to a number of hazards within the property being reported to Fire Control by the incident commander Fire Control also mobilised the environmental protection unit from Taunton to this incident.

The crew began fire-fighting immediately using two ground monitors.

The fire is now under control and the incident has been scaled down leaving four pumps in attendance at the incident.

Final update 04:15 - A domestic bungalow measuring 20m x 10m destroyed by fire. Crew used two jets to extinguish the fire, and removed one gas cylinder from the property. The cause was determined as accidental.
