Incident - Road traffic collision

Date: 06/01/2019
Time: 10:36
Location: A358 Halsway Hill, Bicknoller
Area: Somerset
County: Somerset

Fire Control received a call from colleagues in Police Control requesting assistance at a road traffic collision on the A358 near Bicknoller. One pump from Williton station was immediately mobilised.

On arrival crews requested a second appliance for additional personnel, so a fire appliance from Nether Stowey station was mobilised to assist them.

Crews confirmed that there was a road traffic collision involving two cars and that no-one was trapped, however there were four casualties suffering from various injuries as a result of the collision. Fire crews set to work giving first aid to the casualties and making the vehicles safe. The location of the incident was on a blind bend at the brow of a hill so crews temporarily closed the road to ensure the safety of crews and public.

At 11:14 the police were able to reopen one carriageway, and at 11:22 Ambulance personnel arrived on scene and took over care of the casualties. Fire crews cleared the rest of the carriageway of debris to allow it to be reopened.

Fire crews left scene at 11:46. These are the final details.
