Incident - Derelict Property Fire

Fire Control received several calls to reports of a fire in the general area of Brympton, near Yeovil.

1 Fire appliance was initially sent to the area, whilst en-route, Fire Control received a further call to say this was a house fire, well alight.   Fire Control mobilised a 2nd appliance from Yeovil.

On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a 2 storey detached derelict property, well alight, the incident commander made pumps 4 and requested the attendance of the water carrier from Yeovil. The other appliances came from Crewkerne and Sherborne.

Crews got to work with 1 main jet and requested the attendance of Western Power to isolate the electric to the property.

Crews are currently at work with 3 main jets, 1 hose reel jet, backed up by 2 hydrants, short extension and roof ladders.

Crews extinguished the fire using 3 attack jets, 1 hose reel jet, 1 covering jet whilst wearing breathing apparatus sets. The fire caused 100% damage to the property and was believed to have been started deliberately.

There will be a revisit during daylight hours to confirm the cause of the fire.
