Date: 07/02/2018
Time: 10:03
Location: Fords Road, Exeter
Area: Central
County: Devon

The Fire Service received a call reporting a house on fire at the above location.  One fire appliance from Danes Castle Exeter and one fire appliance from Middlemoor Exeter attended.

Fire crews confirmed smoke and flames issuing from a first floor bedroom well alight and requested the attendance of third appliance from Danes Castle Exeter.

Fire crews confirmed a fire involving the first floor bedroom of an end terraced domestic property.  All persons were free and clear of the property and fire crews tackled the fire using two breathing apparatus wearers, a positive pressure ventilation fan, one hose reel jet and a thermal image camera.

Fire crews extinguished the fire and confirmed it had also involved the first floor landing of the property.  The first floor bedroom was severely damaged by fire and the first floor of the property was severely damaged by heat and smoke.  Unfortunately, one terrier-type dog was found deceased.  The fire was extinguished by fire crews using two breathing apparatus wearers and one hose reel jet.  One positive pressure ventilation fan and small tools were used to damp down and cut away hot spots.  The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
