Fire Control received a call from the neighbour of a property reporting the smoke detector sounding and smoke inside the house.

2 Fire appliances from Exeter Danes Castle, 1 from Middlemoor and an Operational Assurance Officer attended.

On arrival, crews confirmed the property to be heavily smoke logged.

2 breathing apparatus wearers entered the property with 1 hose reel jet and found a small fire in the first floor bedroom and bathroom involving electrical equipment.

This was a 2 storey semi detached property with a fire in the bathroom and bedroom area involving an electrical blanket.  The fire was extinguished using 4 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hose reel jet, 1 thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan.  One elderly occupant was conveyed to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
