Incident - Road Traffic Collision - Person Trapped

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Ambulance requesting the fire service assistance at a Road Traffic collision at the above location.

Fire control immediately mobilised two fire engines from Burnham on Sea, one fire engine from Bridgwater, one duty officer and the heavy rescue tender from Taunton to attend this incident.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed one vehicle had left the carriageway and had collided with a tree resulting in one person trapped within the vehicle.

Firefighters worked alongside paramedics to create space using electrical cutting equipment, a glass saw, stabfast to stabilise the vehicle and a triple extension ladder to extricate the casualty from the vehicle.

The casualty was taken to hospital via a land ambulance.
