Date: 10/02/2019
Time: 19:58
Location: Wellpark Close, Exeter
Area: Central
County: Devon

2 fire appliances from Danes Castle (Exeter) were mobilised following a call from the occupant of a property, saying one of their bedrooms was on fire. At the time of call Fire Control confirmed that all occupants had evacuated and were safely outside.

Crews were quickly on scene and after 2 firefighters entered the property in breathing apparatus, and with a hose reel jet, located the fire and confirmed the mid terraced property was heavily smoke logged. A 3rd fire appliance, mobilised from Middlemoor (Exeter) was then requested at 20:15hrs to assist crews with preventing fire spread.

The fire, located in a rear bedroom of the 2 storey property, was contained to this bedroom and brought under control at 20:34hrs, using 1 hose reel jet, a covering jet, breathing apparatus and later a positive ventilation fan to clear the smoke. The incident was under control at 21:02hrs and all crews have now left the scene. The room of origin sustained 70% damage by fire and 30% by smoke, the first floor suffered 60% by smoke, with the remainder of the property sustaining slight smoke damage. Once crews made the area safe, duty of care was left the owners. There were no casualties and these are the full and final details.
