Incident - Thatched Building Fire

DSFRS Control Room received repeated calls to a report of a thatched property alight at the above location. Multiple fire appliances were mobilised along with an aerial ladder platform and a water carrier.

Shortly after arrival the Incident Commander requested an increase in resources to a total of 10 pumping appliances, two water carriers, one aerial ladder platform, one incident command unit and a high volume pump. Crews are currently using main jets and compressed air foam to fight the fire.

Local homes and schools are advised to keep all windows closed due to the large smoke plume.

2000hrs update - This incident has now been scaled down to 3 pumps to monitor the incident and extinguish any hot spots.

1100hrs update - One crew from Martock are in attendance with the aerial from Yeovil damping down hot spots. Crews are at work with 1 jet from pump backed up from a hydrant. Crews cannot access the building due to the unsafe structure. Crews will remain on scene for a while damping down. These are the final details.
