Incident - Fire involving caravans and vehicles within yard - Final Details

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in the distance reported at the above location.  One fire appliance from Buckfastleigh and one from Ashburton were mobilised to this incident.

Upon arrival crews confirmed large group of cars and caravans within a yard to be well alight and requested a further two fire appliances which were mobilised from Totnes and Ivybridge.

Crews set to work to extinguish the fire using Compressed Air Foam and two breathing apparatus.  The incident was sectorised into sectors one and three.  Crews made good progress damping down with two hose reel jets, one main jet and four breathing apparatus.

At 03:30 Crews continue to make steady progress damping down hotspots, breathing apparatus has been discontinued and the incident will be scaled down shortly.  A revisit will be planned in daylight hours.

Update 1200hrs - This incident is now complete and all appliances have now come away from the scene. After our revisit this morning crews confirmed the final damage to the building (origin of fire) was 100% destroyed, which then spread to 10 motor vehicles, 8 of which were severely damaged by the fire. The cause is still under investigation by the Police, but these are the full and final details.
