Ladies Driving Challenge

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are pleased to be supporting the Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Ladies Driving Challenge which takes place at Merryfield Airfield, Ilton on Saturday 6th March 2010.

Four fire engines for the fundraising event will be provided by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, as well as full instructions to the ladies who will be driving them! The day will create the opportunity for the Fire Service to promote Road Traffic Collision reduction initiatives, Community Safety issues and to highlight the service as a potential career for the ladies taking part.

As well as fire engines, ladies will get the opportunity to drive a variety of unusual vehicles including double-decker buses, cement mixers, articulated lorries, car transporters and even an army truck! A great day is promised.

Participation in the Driving Challenge is dependent on raising £100 sponsorship for Marie Curie Cancer Care and drivers must be female and aged 18 or over with a full UK manual driving licence.

For more information on taking part in the event, please contact Marie Curie’s local Community Fundraiser; Amy Llewellyn on 01460 271230 or email amy.llewelyn@mariecurie.org.uk
