Martock Firefighters will be raising funds for the Firefighters Charity this Saturday 19th December. This year will see Father Christmas arriving in style courtesy of a horse and carriage provided as thanks for the firefighters efforts in dealing with a recent barn fire at Ash.
Group Commander, Yeovil Group, Paul Cregan: “Firefighters in South Somerset are exceptionally proactive in supporting both the Firefighters Charity and other local good causes. Christmas time gives us all the opportunity to engage with all members of our communities and we benefit from their huge generosity around the festival period, irrespective of the ongoing economic climate.
“Whilst our young people are telling Santa what they hope for on Christmas Day, Firefighters are able to provide safety advice to parents, carers and family members to help us all stay safe to enjoy Christmas and New Years.
“Candle safety, checking smoke alarms, electrical safety, cooking safety and safe driving will be our focus while out in our communities whilst raising funds for the Firefighters Charity - we all enjoy this time of year and we aim to make it even more happy by spending a small amount of time thinking about safety in and around our homes and communities.
“Martock Firefighters look forward to seeing you soon!"
The procession will leave Martock Fire Station at 1000hrs, driving through the village and arriving at the shopping precinct at North St where firefighters will provide community safety advice whilst helping Father Christmas raise funds for the Firefighters Charity.
