Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are warmly inviting members of the public to attend their Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday 19th December, in the beautiful venue of Exeter Cathedral.
Family, friends and fire service staff will all be attending as well as Civic Leaders to share in the celebration of this festive event and the dedication of the Service Standard.
Chief Fire Officer, Lee Howell said: “We are proud of the Service we provide to the communities of Devon & Somerset and wish to invite members of the public to join with us in the festive celebrations. We are particularly pleased to have secured the Cathedral this year and hope to see as many people as possible.”
The evening will consist of a combination of performances given by the Band of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service (who will be accompanying the singing of a variety of carols) the Pipes and Drums led by the Colour Party both from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, the Somerset County Youth Choir and Miss Hannah Jewell, a talented young soprano from Devon.
Cllr Bernard Hughes OBE, Chairman. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority said: “It is with very great pleasure that I welcome members of the public to this Christmas celebration marking the amalgamation of Devon and Somerset, two well known and respected Fire and Rescue Services.
“I am grateful for all the help that we have received from the Dean and Chapter of our great Cathedral Church of St, Peter in Exeter. I am sure that it is the right place to dedicate our new Service Standard of which we are justly proud.
“Our ceremonial unit has led the British fire service representatives for the past twenty five years at Ypres in Belgium on the 11th November and it is our service standard that is carried so proudly on this and other occasions.”
Staff and guests are invited to arrive at 1830hrs for a prompt start to the concert at 1900hrs. It is anticipated that the concert will conclude at 20.30hrs.
This is the first event of this type for the Service and we would hope that it becomes a regular feature in the build up to Christmas, providing a happy and informal opportunity to meet friends and colleagues and set the scene for a peaceful and Happy Christmas.
