Media Invite

On Tuesday 24th November, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service will be presenting the winner and runners up of the children’s art competition themed ‘People are Different’. The competition was arranged to create a illustration for the front cover of ‘Considering Needs’ which will be launched in early December and is an overview of our single equality scheme, Making the Connections.

Chief Fire Officer Lee Howell said: “Here’s a chance for a young person to have a picture they have drawn printed on the cover of our new publication, which tells everyone what we are doing to help all the people in our communities and to reach those in the greatest need in an increasingly diverse environment. It is important that we ensure everyone has access to our services, information and opportunities.”

The winners are:
1st prize George Peters (of Martock)
2nd Prize Katie Hourigan (of Paignton)
3rd Prize Mathew Taylor (of Paignton)

The presentation will take place at approximately 1.15pm after the winner’s school year group of key stage 1 children have completed their tour of the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) station. George, Katie and Mathew will also receive art materials and George’s school will receive a computer as part of his prize.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Neil Gibbins will be presenting the prizes.  There will also be a colourful display of all the entries on the day.
