Incident - Lorry Fire.

Fire Control received calls reporting a lorry on fire on the M5 near to Taunton Dean Services. Fire Control mobilised one Fire Engine, one Environmental Protection Unit and one Water Carrier from Taunton and both Fire Engines from Wellington.

Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed one LGV tanker trailer containing 38000 litres of liquid Nitrogen well alight and requested the attendance of three more Fire Engines for additional personnel and additional water. Fire Control mobilised two Fire engines from Taunton, one Fire Engine from Bridgwater and the Incident Command Unit from Wiveliscombe.  

The crew got to work to extinguishing the fire with the use of four breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam jet, one hose reel jet, one main jet and a thermal imaging camera. The fire is now confirmed to be extinguished. The crew stayed on scene to monitor the trailer and for perimeter cooling.

The crew have now made the area and the LGV safe and incident is now in the care of the police.
