Incident - Tractor Fire

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a tractor on fire at the above location.

Fire control immediately mobilised two fire appliances from Tiverton to attend.

On arrival crews confirmed that the tractor was well alight and immediately made pumps three for water and additional personnel.

Crews got to work extinguishing the fire using three hose reel jets, three hose reel jets and one compressed air foam jet.

At 1434, crews confirmed the fire spreading to the adjacent barn, igniting chopped straw and hay. Crews continued fire fighting with the assistance of farm machinery to empty the barn contents.

At 1611, crews were making steady progress putting the fire out using two hose reel jets, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

At 1800, a water bowser was sent to the scene from Danes Castle, to assist with water supply. Crews rotated, with an appliance from Wellington taking over at the scene. Crews continued damping down with ground monitors and compressed air foam.
