Date: 10/10/2018
Time: 09:08
Location: Pyworthy, Devon
Area: Central
County: Devon

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a fire within a sub station.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Holsworthy and one fire appliance from Hatherleigh to attend this incident.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a fire involving an electrical sub station. The incident commander requested the attendance of western power to isolate the external power supply.

The incident commander liaised with the police and put a thirteen hundred metre cordon in place due to the smoke plume which was created from the fire. Police conducted a door to door advising neighbouring properties of the incident and provided advice.

Western Power isolated the external power supply and onsite senior electrical engineer isolated the internal power supply. Crews got to work using compressed air foam on the building and surrounding area.

The sub station was hundred percent damaged by the fire. This was believed to be an accidental ignition.

These were the final details.
