Incident - Boat Fire

Date: 21/04/2018
Time: 17:52
Location: River Tamar, Plymouth
Area: Western
County: Devon

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls reporting that a boat was on fire at the above location.

Fire control immediately mobilised the fire boat from Plymstock. Further calls stated that the occupant of the boat had evacuated but was believed to be stuck within mud and water so the Specialist Rescue Team from Camels Head was also mobilised.

On arrival, crews found one boat well alight. The occupant of the boat had been rescued by Lifeboat personnel prior to the arrival of the Fire Service and they were on shore in the hands of the Ambulance Service.

At 18:54 crews confirmed that the fire within the 19 foot cabin cruiser was out. Crews used one monitor from the fire boat to extinguish the fire and crews were liaising with Police and Lifeboat.

Fire service personnel were released from this incident and duty of care was left with the Police.
