Incident - Tractor and Trailer on fire

The Fire Service were called to reports of a tractor and trailer containing large hay bales on fire on the main A396.  Fire Control mobilised two appliances from Tiverton and Cullompton to attend this incident.

Upon arrival crews confirmed the tractor to be well alight, and got work with two hose reel jets.  Police were also in attendance.

At 1631hrs crews confirmed approximately 20 large hay bales were on fire on the public highway.  Crews used two hose reel jets and two attack jets, supplied from nearby hydrant to extinguish the fire.

At 1758hrs the fire was confirmed out. 12 tonnes of hay was severely damaged by fire. Hay was removed to open ground using a farmers mechanical digger, 2 hose reel jets, 1 main jet and small tools. The cause of the fire was accidental.
