Incident - Barn Fire

<p>Fire engines from Martock, Ilminster, Crewkerne and Yeovil, along with a water carrier also from Yeovil, were sent to a report of a barn well alight at the above address.</p><p>On arrival the crew confirmed the barn was well alight and requested the attendance of another fire engine which was sent from Somerton.  An Incident Command Unit was also sent from Street.</p><p>The electricity board was requested to attend due to power cables being involved in the fire.  Police were also requested along with Ambulance to stand by due to the amount of crew in attendance and to close the road.</p><p>Shortly after the above being requested, the crew requested another fire engine to attend.  This was sent from Yeovil.</p><p>The barn is 30m x 15m and is containing 250-300 tonnes of round bales of hay.  These were fully involved in the fire along with a range or surrounding outbuildings.  </p><p>Crews are currently at work with 5 main jets and 3 hose reel jets.  The electricity has been made safe and a telehandler is currently en route from Exeter area to assist with operations. </p><p>Update to follow. </p>

The incident has been scaled down to 1 pump overnight with the crew using a telehandler to remove burning hay from within the barn to an open field.

A positive pressure ventilation fan is also in use.
