Incident - Lorry Fire

<p>Five Fire engines from Danes Castle, Middlemoor and Newton Abbot were sent to a report of a lorry fire on the A38.  </p><p>On arrival the crews confirmed the lorry was well alight and requested a water carrier to attend the incident.  The 40 foot articulated lorry is currently well alight.  37 tonnes of bailed newspaper are involved in the fire.  One compressed air foam jet, two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet are in use.  The Fire Service telehandler has also been sent to assist the fire crews.</p><p>Update at 17:30 - crews are still in attendance waiting for additional compressed air foam stocks.    </p><p>Incident currently ongoing...</p><p>Update at 19:05 - Steady progress being made, turning over and damping down. 2 compressed air foam jets, 1 hose reel jet, small tools and telehandler in use.</p><p>Update at 22:55 - Steady progress being made, telehandler, hose reel jets and thermal image cameras in use.

The telehandler is the only vehicle now left on scene assisting Highways with the removal of the bailed newspaper, they are expected to be there for a couple more hours. The trailer of the lorry has 90% fire damage and 100% of the load destroyed by fire and water damage.
