Incident - Fire Commerical Building - Ongoing

Following a call reporting smoke issuing from a building at the above address, two appliances from Crownhill and Greenbank, were mobilised.

After a further call stating that smoke and fire was coming from the roof of the premises, a further appliance and the Ariel Ladder Platform from Crownhill was also sent.

Crews set to work using two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one safety jet.

07:58 - Crews request a further appliance to assist with manpower. One appliance from Plymstock and the Incident Command Unit and a supporting pump were sent from Totnes.

08:00 - Crews found difficult entry to the workshop area, and forced entry to adjacent units. Four sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one main jet and the Ariel Ladder Platform are in use.

08:21 - All breathing apparatus crews have been withdrawn, vents are being made in the roof and the Ariel cage cooling spray is in use.

08:42 - Additional appliance from Yelverton requested as fire spreading to an adjacent building. One Hazardous materials and environmental proptection officer also mobilised.

11:06 - Fire is now under control. One commercial unit containing garage equipment and two cars, severely damaged by fire. Two adjacent properties have been slightly damaged by smoke. In total the crews used six breathing apparatus, three main jets, one hose reel jet, one safety jet, one compressed air foam jet, three thermal imaging cameras, one aerial ladder platform, small tools and one short extension ladder.

Crews remain on scene damping down.
