Two fire engines from Street and Glastonbury were mobilised to reports of a fire in a coach in the dashboard on the A39 near Street.

On arrival crews confirmed one coach was well alight and got to work extinguishing the fire using 1 cafs jet (foam) 1 hose reel jet and 4 breathing apparatus. Crews requested a further fire engine which was sent from Bridgwater.

All children that were on the bus were accounted for and all safe. An ambulance was requested for the bus driver who was thought to be suffering from smoke inhalation from the fire. The cause of the fire was accidental due to an electrical fault.
