The fire service received a number of calls reporting a farm building on fire in the the Tengore lane area.

Three fire appliances were immediately mobilised, one Somerton and two from Martock as well as the nearest Water carrier from Bridgwater.

On arrival of the first appliance, the officer in charge requested a 4x4 vehicle with extra crew to assist with man power..

21:49 - This is confirmed a hay and straw barn approximately 10 meters by 10 meters. There is an unknown quantity of straw and hay. Two breathing apparatus are in use.

21:50 - Police have been requested to close Tengore Lane

22:10 - Crews at work with 2 main jets and 1 safety jet at work in sector 1 and 3 using water backed up from a hydrant. BT was asked to attend due to overhead lines being damaged by the fire.

23:00 - Crews are still at work and require a 2 pump relief on the fire ground for 2.30am.

02:30 - Crews from Yeovil and Street were mobilised as a relief crew.

04:11 - A stop message was received for the fire at 04.11am This was one barn measuring 10m x 10m which was filled with straw. The contents were 100% damaged by fire. Crews used 1 compressed air foam (CAFS) jet, 1 hose reel jet, 2 attack jets, drag forks and a positive pressure fan. Somerton was mobilised at 07:30 to reinspect and check for any hot spots. The cause of the fire was suspicious and the police are investigating this morning.
