Location: Aldercott Farm, Pancrasweek, Holsworthy

A Fire Engine from Holsworthy along with 2 from Bude and a Water Carrier from Barnstaple were sent to a report of hay bales smouldering within a barn at the above location.

On arrival the crew confirmed that this was an agricultural building measuring 100 meters x 50 meters containing approximately 400 bales of hay smouldering within the barn and got to work alongside the farmer removing the bales to an open field using machinery.

Crews are currently at work using 2 sets of breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and a covering jet dampening down the bales once they have been removed to the field.

The fire has been successfully extinguished using 2 sets of breathing apparatus, 3 hose reel jets, a covering jet, a thermal imagine camera and a triple extension ladder.  60% of the contents of the building was destroyed by fire and 20% damaged by smoke.  The cause of the fire was accidental.
