Incident - Hotel Fire

The Fire Service received a call to a report of a fire at a hotel at the above location.

Three appliances were mobilised from Totnes and Paignton. Station Commander Monaghan is also in attendance.

Upon arrival the Incident Commander immediately requested additional resources and an extra appliance was mobilised from Paignton together with the Incident Command Vehicle from Totnes.

22:08 - Smoke is now issuing from the first floor ballroom - make pumps six, two additional appliances mobilised from Torquay.

This is a detached building used as a hotel, fire in ground floor kitchen involving deep fat fryers, fire believed to have spread to first floor ballroom. four breathing apparatus wearers, two hosereel jets and one dry powder extinguisher in use. All persons accounted for.

22:33 - Further assistance message - Hydraulic Platform required at incident, this was mobilised from Crownhill.

Update at 23:12 - Station Commander Monaghan is now Incident Commander, further informative message... Fire in cavity wall, crews making attempts to expose and examine, eight breathing apparatus, two main jets, two hosereel jets in use.

Update at 23:51 - Group Commander Durante is now Incident Commander, further informative message..... Incident now being sectorised, thermal imaging camera in use, ten breathing apparatus wearers, fire involving kitchen and first floor, crews exposing and extinguishing fires in cavities. Crews also using triple extension ladder, two main jets, two hosereel jets.

Update at 00:28 - Good progress being made, eight breathing apparatus, three main jets, one main jet, hydrant in use. 35 Hotel residents unharmed and removed to alternative accomodation. Police and Ambulance also in attendance.

update at 01:36 - Steady progress being made cutting away, aerial appliance providing safe working platform, three hosereels in use, breathing apparatus temporarily discontinued

Update at 02:29 - Good progress being made, no further fires or fire spread located. Four breathing apparatus in use, 2 DSFRS fire-fighters & 2 Ambulance HART (hazardous area rescue team) personnel, three hosereels, small tools and aerial platform in use. Incident Commander is now Station Commander Monaghan

Incident under control at 03:04 - Three storey building used as a hotel measuring twenty five metres by forty five metres with a fire in a ground floor kitchen which had spread to the first floor ballroom.  The fire was extinguished by fire crews using eight breathing apparatus wearers, three hose reel jets, one aerial ladder platform and two main jets.  The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
